Study: Herbicide Chemical Lowers Male Sperm Count
On May 25, 2015 a post written by Amanda Froelich appeared in the blog EWAO. The post titled [Study] Monsantos Glyphosate Impairs Reproductive Abilities:Lowers Sperm Count looked at a study that suggested that a main ingredient in Monsanto's Roundup herbicide called glyphosate may be a contributing factor in the decline of male fertility.
The post focused on a study lead by Professor Gilles-Eric Seralini at the University of Caen, France in which it was found that Roundup chemicals altered testicular function after only 8 days of exposure.
"Exposure at concentration levels of only .05% were found to be harmful to sperm function and caused abnormal sperm mutations varying in time spans from 2,3, and 4, months after brief exposure to the herbicide."
