IMPORTANT NOTICE RE: THYROID GLAND (Issued May 14, 2014)
On Wednesday, May 14, we began sending this notice to our customers, but we are repeating a shortened version here to ensure the word gets out:
It took 2 years for Life Choice to get a NPN for Thyroid Gland, and we have promoted and sold the newly licensed product for the past 8 months. We followed all the licensing regulations to the letter.
However, on May 9, 2014, Health Canada notified us that this NHPD license was issued in error, and our NPN license has been suspended. In the notification letter, we were given 30 days to dispute. However, the recall was already issued as of May 13, 2014, giving us no chance to address the situation. We apologize that notification about this matter could not be given sooner.
We are currently addressing this matter with Health Canada in hopes of finding a workable solution.
In the meantime, though, please stop selling this product until further notice.
We are sorry for any convenience and confusion this matter has caused. We value your dedicated support. Should you have any questions, please call or e mail (contact info is at the bottom of the newsletter), as we are here for you.
Recently, Life Choice announced some upcoming price changes (effective August 1). Several have asked why costs are increasing. In a nutshell, it is because non-GMO therapeutic raw material is becoming harder and harder to come by.
Did you know that over 80% of US corn and cotton crops and 94% soy are genetically modified? GM sugar beets were introduced in 2008, and within the first year, 90% of the sugar beets grown in the U.S. were genetically modified (GMO)--that is 80% of the world’s supply. In essence, we pay more for organic food, only to have less and less to choose from. As the reach of GMO foods continues to grow, precious organic crops become increasingly rare--and expensive.
The same goes for supplements.
Without knowing the long term consequences, we can’t take the risk of buying the cheaper material--even though nothing prevents us from doing so. Health Canada does not demand supplement suppliers to use non-GMO raw materials. Actually, they don’t care what quality goes into the supplements, as long as they have a certificate of analysis. The source material could be irradiated, GMO, sourced from animals, or produced from sewage sludge and laden with toxic chemicals--as long as it has a NPN, the product is approved without a second glance.
That’s not good enough for Life Choice, for we know better, and we feel an obligation and commitment to our customers: when they see a Life Choice product, results are expected. How can that be achieved with unproven raw material? It can’t, and we cannot entertain the idea. If we are to keep producing effective products, we must keep using effective raw material.
Over the years, our customers have come to trust our quality. The path of quality is often the more challenging; however, we believe the end results are worth the challenge--we hope that you feel the same way.
