Lean Energizer with L-Carnitine is a great formulation to kick start your weight loss regimen, but did you know that it can also help kick start your sex drive?
Some of the components of this formulation have been shown to help with libido.
L-Carnitine has been found beneficial for male libido. In a 2004 study, both testosterone and carnitine supplements improved many areas of sexuality; however, carnitine was significantly more active than testosterone in improving nocturnal penile tumescence and International Index of Erectile Function score. Testosterone also significantly increased the prostate volume and free and total testosterone levels and significantly lowered serum luteinizing hormone, while carnitine did not. Both carnitine and testosterone were effective for as long as they were administered.
The flavonoids of both green and black teas are thought to be effective in ameliorating endothelial dysfunction by enhancing nitric oxide synthesis or by decreasing superoxidemediated nitric oxide breakdown. In men over 40, nitric oxide depletion is thought to be responsible for the vascular dysfunction that causes erectile dysfunction. Tea flavonoids also contain L-Theanine, an amino acid almost completely exclusive to tea. This amino acid has neuroprotective and mood effects, which are beneficial to libido, as the hippocampus has a modulatory effect on sexual desire.
The green tea polyphenol EGCG is an antagonist to androgen. One study examined the correlation between decreased androgen and female sex drive. Decreased total testosterone and free testosterone levels were correlated positively with desire, arousal, lubrication and orgasm scores. Even caffeine, such as that found in green tea, can be helpful in the bedroom. In a household survey of those 60 and over, caffeine was shown to be beneficial to their sex lives. Those who drank at least one cup of coffee per day had a higher prevalence of sexual activity in women and a higher potency rate in men.
Aspartic acid has also shown promise in both humans and animals for boosting testosterone. It induces an enhancement of LH and testosterone release. In humans, researchers found that a daily dose of 10 ml of 2 M sodium d-aspertate solution for 12 consecutive days increased serum LH and testosterone levels by 33% and 42%, respectively.
