The New Frontier For Canadian Health Care: New Regulations
Create Equality Between Natural Health Producers And Drug Manufacturers
(Calgary, AB) - Canadian actor and natural health advocate Nick Mancuso and Life Choice CEO Dr. Eldon Dahl (ND) believe that Health Canada should take the final step and officially recognize the equality that now exists between natural health products (NHPs) and allopathic medicines.
According to Dahl, “Under the direction and guidance of Health Canada and the Federal Minister of Health, our industry has evolved. Today, natural health products are on an equal footing with allopathic medicines. Products manufactured in both industries – natural health and pharmaceutical –must now meet the same demanding regulatory guidelines set out and defined in the Food and Drug Act.”
Under the stewardship of Health Canada, natural health products and pharmaceuticals are now subject to the same scrutiny and oversight. Products manufactured in both industries must follow the same rules when it comes to: clinical testing; validity claims; warning labels; ingredients etc...
According to Dahl, “Regardless of which industry you are in- natural health or pharmaceutical - once Health Canada has determined that your product has therapeutic and medicinal value and has met the high standards as stipulated in the Food and Drug Act, then and only then, will your product be government approved, licensed and be in a legal position to be sold to the general public.” He concluded, “The Food and Drug Act does not differentiate between natural health and pharmaceutical manufacturers. “
As an advocate of natural health products, Mancuso also believes that Health Canada and the Ministry of Health should take the final step and officially recognize that equality now exists between the two industries. He believes that medical doctors and their patients should be given the opportunity to decide for themselves from which industry, and what product, they wish to purchase.
According to Mancuso, “Yes, under the guidance of Health Canada the natural health industry has been forced to change. By placing the natural health industry under the control of the Food and Drug Act, Health Canada has, without a doubt, created equality between the natural health manufacturers and the pharmaceutical producers. By placing both under the same Act, the playing field is now level.”
He then added, “Given this reality, is it not time to ask Health Canada and the Ministry of Health to take the final step, and make products from both industries, available to medical doctors, pharmacists and their patients?
